Installation & Maintenance

Wooden Flooring FAQs
  1. Acclimatize the Wood: Store the wood in the installation area for a few days to adjust to humidity and temperature.
  2. Prepare the Subfloor: Ensure the subfloor is clean, flat, and dry. Use a moisture barrier for concrete subfloors if needed.
  3. Lay the Underlayment: Use underlayment for cushioning, sound insulation, and moisture protection as necessary.
  4. Plan the Layout: Typically, lay the flooring perpendicular to the floor joists for stability.
  5. Start Installation: Begin along the longest exterior wall, leaving a 1/2 inch expansion gap.
  6. Install the First Row: Place the first board with the tongue side facing the wall, using spacers to maintain the gap.
  7. Continue Installation: Use a flooring nailer to secure each board, staggering end joints at least 6 inches between rows.
  8. Complete the Installation: Cut the last row to fit, maintaining the expansion gap at the wall.
  9. Install Trim and Moulding: Cover the expansion gap with baseboards or quarter round.
  10. Finish the Floor: Sand, stain, and seal according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
